Heart of Dinner Year-End Matching Fund: Double Your Impact!

Heart of Dinner’s First-Ever Matching Fund: Double Your Impact Today!

We're over the moon to launch our first-ever matching fund to support our mission in reducing food insecurity and loneliness among Asian American older adults living in significantly under-resourced communities.

With tremendous thanks to the generosity of our matching fund contributors, C&C Doors and Frames and GAMCO Corporation, we’ve secured $50,000 in matching funds—and now we need your help to unlock their full potential before December 31!

Every dollar you donate from now through December 31 will be matched 1:1, up to $50,000. This means your gift will go twice as far, helping us raise $100,000 to get us closer to sustain our weekly care package deliveries and maintain operations in 2025. Your donation today isn’t just a gift—it’s a lifeline for Elders living in deep isolation and under-funded communities.

WHY THE NEED IS URGENT

The inequities our Elders face didn’t begin with the pandemic—and they won’t end without immediate action.

1 in 3 Asian Elders in NYC lives below the poverty line—a rate significantly higher than the citywide average, highlighting deep economic inequities.

28% of Asian American older adults over 65 live in poverty, compounded by social isolation, language barriers, and cultural divides. These challenges make accessing essential resources nearly impossible for many.

Language and socioeconomic barriers contribute to higher levels of psychological distress and depression. Asian Elders are particularly at high risk of severe social isolation, a condition strongly associated with depression, anxiety, and physical health decline.

Older Asian women have the highest suicide rates among their peers across all ethnic groups in the United States. This is driven by profound loneliness, stigma surrounding mental health, and the lack of culturally responsive care.

• Without access to consistent food, companionship, and emotional support, many Asian Elders are left at risk of hunger, social isolation, and mental health crises.

THE IMPACT OF YOUR GIFT

Your generosity fuels Heart of Dinner’s ecosystem of care, enabling us to deliver nourishing meals, intention-filled connections, and critical support to nearly 700 Elders every week. With your help, we can close this critical gap and make sure that our beloved Elders are nourished, connected, and cared for. The time to act is now. Thank you for allowing us the mobility to provide the love and support they deserve.

Each Heart of Dinner care package includes:

2–3 days’ worth of culturally thoughtful meals we purchase from local businesses partners who share our values.

• A handwritten note of love and encouragement in their native language.

• A hand-decorated bag adorned with joyful, warm, cheery, and uplifting illustrations.

Here’s how your contribution makes a difference (with your impact doubled by the match!):

$30 becomes $60, providing two care packages.

$150 becomes $300, supports five Elders with weekly meals and joy for two weeks.

$360 becomes $720, nourishing an Elder for six months.

$600 becomes $1,200, supporting 10 Elders with essential meals and loving human connection each week for a month.

$1,560 becomes $3,120, and you’re providing a whole year of meals, love, and joy for an Elder couple!

$5,000 becomes $10,000, covering half the care packages needed to nourish nearly 700 Elders for one week.

• $10,000 becomes $20,000, providing ~3,500 nourishing meals and heartfelt connections to Elders across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx—bringing hope, companionship, and life-changing impact to those who need it most.

🎯 WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

In 2024, we raised just over $500,000 but need an additional $500,000 to meet our $1M baseline goal for 2025. This matching fund is a critical first step toward sustaining Heart of Dinner’s mission to nourish and care for our beloved Elders.

YOUR SUPPORT MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO:

💛 Reduce food insecurity by providing culturally thoughtful & nourishing food. Heart of Dinner purchases directly from local independent businesses—trusted partners who are women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs—creating a sustainable ecosystem that uplifts and supports our entire community.

💌 Foster meaningful togetherness and address emotional & mental health of our beloved Elders through handwritten notes and hand-decorated bags.

Provide reliable & consistent weekly home deliveries through our six distribution arms, making sure that nearly 700 Elders receive their lifeline of care packages every week.

Beyond meeting immediate needs, your contribution drives transformative change by challenging systemic neglect and building a community where every Elder feels seen, loved, and cherished while actively reducing food insecurity, isolation, and loneliness.

JOIN US IN DOUBLING THE IMPACT!

This is a milestone moment for Heart of Dinner, and time is running out. Your gift before December 31 will make an immediate and transformative difference. Together, we can raise $100,000—every dollar matched, every donation doubled.

Your action today helps sustain this lifeline for 2025 and beyond. Let’s make this happen—one care package at a time.
